Factorial Seating

This line of chair components was designed to be interchangeable, which allows for customization of the final product by the end user. The system is made up of 4 seats (small, medium, large, and extra-large) and 8 backs (2 small, 2 medium, 2 large, and 2 extra-large). Parts from all sizes can be mixed (yes, this does allow for some bizarre combinations). The 3D parts were integrated into an online configurator (utilizing the Viewpoint Player), so users could manipulate and customize seating to fit their needs.

Just as a matter of inerest, I started using the Viewpoint technology before it was Viewpoint, when it was called Metastream. Though, I really only ever used it for simple 3D models, it was my then boss, Tim Gollin, who made the interactive 3D magic work.
